The EPIC Genesis Centre, located at St. Clair College, main campus, room SC128, is the gateway to entrepreneurship at St. Clair College. It is a hub that connects students, alumni and the community with resources, programs and support to foster a culture of entrepreneurship on campus and beyond. EPIC Genesis is a collaboration between St. Clair College and the University of Windsor.

Our mission is to teach and expose students and alumni to entrepreneurial tools and thinking. From workshops, to one-on-one mentorship, we help you succeed in whatever path you choose – whether working for yourself, or for someone else.


Genesis Centre Staff

Cathy Mombourquette
Cathy Mombourquette

Cathy has honed her communication and leadership expertise through senior positions in Operations, Sales and Marketing with multi-million dollar organizations in the private and public sectors. Cathy holds an Honours Bachelor Commerce Degree, a post-graduate Certificate in Professional Communication Management, and has specialized training in Design Thinking, Business Model Innovation, Lean Canvas, Value Proposition Design and Social Entrepreneurship. She is also a business owner.

Cathy provides oversight of the Genesis Centre that includes developing and delivering entrepreneurship programming within the Genesis Centre and across campus, directing and evaluating the Genesis Centre staff with respect to programs, events, and initiatives, and recruiting and deploying mentors and entrepreneurs-in-residence to enhance the curricular and co-curricular entrepreneurship experience for students, alumni and faculty.

Janis Windsor
Janis Windsor

Janis has dedicated her career to studying what makes businesses and their leaders successful, with some of the largest and most successful companies in the world. She has inspired thousands of participants in her highly interactive workshops and coaching programs to define and achieve their goals, lead and inspire others, and develop skills to become more successful. Janis has also created three start-up companies, was a regular columnist for a number of leading industry magazines, and served on the Board of Directors of professional learning organizations, international non-profits, and foundations. A graduate of the University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business and Lesley College School of Management in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Janis holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Masters Degree in Training & Development.

Janis provides one-on-one coaching and mentoring that includes business advisory services and soft skills development. Janis also creates and facilitates a variety of group learning opportunities in the Genesis Centre and in the classrooms.

Cathy and Janis bring over 55 years of combined experience to the Genesis Centre, and are dedicated to helping students become the "Entrepreneurs of their Lives".

THE LEAN STARTUP: HOW TO LEARN MORE QUICKLY WHAT WORKS, AND DISCARD WHAT DOESN’T

EPIC Founders Program

The EPC Founders program teaches startups the theory of the “Lean Startup” while working through the Business Model Canvas and Starting Lean methodology. Students work part-time and are paid up to $6,000 over 3 months to work with mentors.

Epic Makers' Base

EPIC Makers’ Base is a free membership program for students and recent graduates within 7 years of any post-secondary institution from any discipline. EPIC Makers’ Base is equipped with 3D printers, a CO2 laser cutter/engraver, and other tools for members to tinker, to learn new skills, to share and test new ideas, as well as create prototypes.
